This week marked the start of the runup to the playoffs, with only three games left to play. If the first game between the Cabane Express and the Rouge Horizon Tomahawks was any indication, we may be in for a great playoff spring. In the second match, the Bily Kun Czechers returned to the win column after several difficult weeks. Smiles filled the room after their 5-2 victory over the Bifteck Avengers, who had many absent players from their lineup.

A beautiful day that announces spring after a big win, in addition to winning the 50/50 again for the Express, what could be more inspiring! One could say that it ends the week well or that it 's a good start to it , depending on how you see things...
This weekend marked a first in the hockey world as we used a remote-controlled drone aircraft to film part of a game. Unless I’m proven wrong, I don’t believe anyone else has attempted this experiment, for some reason. I’ve only seen a few clips, and hopefully others will be added between now and the playoffs, but it seems very promising. Thanks again to Vince and René for helping the LFA set itself apart from other leagues.
After months of negotiations, the Ligue Fédérale des As has concluded an agreement with Collège Notre-Dame to add an additional ice time for 2014-15 to allow us to grow to six teams next season.
It was during a stretch of strained ligaments that I was wondering whether the guys are taking the time to take care of themselves.
In the french version of this article, I still use the word “stretch” because it’s one of those words that requires no explanation in either language. And I can see some of our Francophone brothers coming down the street with their protests and placards accusing me of trying to kill the French langauge. I’ll clock ‘em with my Bescherelle or my Petit Larousse if they get too close!
Back after missing two, saying that I was eager to play my Saturday game would be an understatement to say the least . Looking forward to joining the Express who had won handily 5-0 last week in my absence, I expected a good game, but not to be part of one in which so many records were to be established, some that will be hard to beat , even virtually impossible in some cases ...
Well, I’m off to a roaring start. Usually I let myself be guided by the headline of my article, which helps reveal some inspiration, but this time I’ve got sweet diddly do. Sometimes stairing at the screen helps, but the only thing coming to me right now are the shots of tequila and Redbull from the bar last night. We already had a few cold ones in the belly when we hit our favourite dive bar, the Bifteck. I have some vague recollection of a funny guy who was sitting next to us who offered up a round, and after that we all started paying rounds, and it went downhill from there. It works out well that I live nearby because I don’t really remember leaving the place and my clothes were spread across my loft this morning, as if I lost an epic scrap with myself. Some magical nights reserve all sorts of surprises for those open to the unknown.
The end of January is upon us, and the players and fans of the Ligue Fédérale des As do not only get the treat of the best photos of recent weeks, but also the crowning of the latest player of the month, as chosen by his peers. In French one of the nicknames for a goalie is cerbère -- Cerberus, the mythological guard dog of the gates of hell -- so it’s fitting that one of these hellhounds finally takes top honours in the LFA.
Last weekend was our second " wild card Saturday" of the season. A label to describe those selected week-ends when every team tries out new players (except this time as the Avengers had two known alternates). That said, five new faces joined us on Saturday and unfortunately for them, the Czechers paid the price , as their two new guys were not LFA caliber. One of them even dropped out and left the game as he could not follow the flow. But in a gesture of solidarity with another LFA team, the Tomahawks goalie Patrick Bouchard borrowed the equipment of the President of the league and jumped on the ice to help out the Czechers. Without being able to make a difference, his gesture was greatly appreciated by the management and the members of his "new" team for the night.
