LFA JOURNAL
While sipping a last one…
/...Which brings me to what I was really wanting to talk about this week: the influx of new members, some of which aspire to join us as regulars . If «the league commissioner» has it his way, the LFA is but the embryo of what it is to become, the first year being one of «gestation» the formation of a mere "fetus" that will really only see the light of day when the cup is raised for the first time in April . Who will do the delivery ?!!? ...Now I get it !: that's why guys smoke cigars in the dressing room after they win a championship...) or at least that's what they did in «the good old days»...

/The votes are in, and the big winner of the first player of the month award in the Ligue Fédérale des As is none other than Martin Desjardins of the Bifteck Avengers. His 14 points, including 10 assists, put him ahead in two statistical categories, and his determination and desire to win make Marty a great choice. His prize is a the president's special homemade shepherd's pie, custom-made gluten-free to match Marty's diet.

/...Since the stakes are so high, I think that mandatory testing should be installed, also I suspect Marty of " boosting " his performance using coconut milk : I found a few cans lying around, at least once on the player’s bench or again in the «Av’s» room after a game...
Read MoreTHE LEAGUE IN QUESTION
/You don't need to be a caller to Les amateurs de sports or other talk-radio to ask questions about our national sport (even if it's technically lacrosse), and the same can be said for la la Ligue Fédérale des As. And we can't convince Ron Fournier to talk about
anything but the saint flanelle anyway. It goes without saying that the LFA has gone through a lot of changes since the inaugural season was launched in September. Injuries, a change in schedule and personal issues combined with a number of absent players has meant that the first third of the season hasn't gone exactly as planned by the player-coaches of each team.

/There's a photo to go with this week's news. It might be invisible to those who can't see it but it's there for anyone who knows how to look. I'll leave you to your memories mixed with what men think of "X" times a day. Maybe she's there somewhere, halfway between dream and fantasy, a place where reality catches up to us only to be left behind again by our imagination...

/...I couldn’t say exactly what happened , except for the a great performance by Thomas Murphy better known in some circles under the pseudonym "La fusée Russe de Brossard" (the Russian Rocket from Brossard) ... He set the tone with a hat trick, and the rest of the "Bily kun" boys (Eric Chamelot with 3 assists on those same 3 goals) did their job and handcuffed the Red’s which obviously were not the up to the task tonight, I must say in their defense that they are in "reconstruction" having lost two big players recently and it certainly did not help ....

/Almost 3 months after the launch of the LFA web site, the english section is finaly open just in time to see the first shift in the standings as after weeks of being on top, the fading Czechers have finally been dethroned. Relying on a lineup sprinkled with replacement players and the strong start of goaltender Patrick Bouchard, the Tomahawks defeated the Avengers 3-2 Saturday night, and have jumped to lead the standings.

/A side note this week on the "regulations and refereeing" side of things… After having a discussion with the referee, a member of the Discipline Committee was informed that it was possible to do a bit of " legal hooking " as long as it done "below the gloves " ... I think this means " around the hip area" or the «pants portion» if you prefer ... Ahh! it smells like the good «old school hockey» of the seventies and eighties as we (the older guys) learned to play it !But obviously, don’t exaggerate , the referee is there to check us !
